arki_lab is pleased to announce that we have been selected to implement Skole+ project at Haarby School in the south of Demark. Skole+ is a collaborative design project which deals with redevelopment of the school environment into a space with enhanced capacity for physical activity of its users. As a part of the school system reform, six schools in Demark have been selected to participate in Skole+ and the entire project is being funded by LOA-Fonded, DIF and Realdania.

arki_lab is working on Skole+ as a part of the team with BCVA and Skala, in collaboration with a group of engineers and external consultants. The fact that our team has been chosen by 3 schools in the pool of 49 applications contributes further to the success of our design strategies and methods. arki_lab’s goals for the redesign of Haarby Skole are to establish user involvement in the actual design process and to communicate this experience in a comprehensive way. Moreover, arki_lab will translate this knowledge into an initial redesign proposal based on the user-driven approach, which will be further developed and shaped by our partners. Our task is to engage the community and capture their ideas though interactive workshops and on-site projects. Our final design product, based on community engagement, will transform Haarby Skole into a place with improved infrastructure for physical activity, sports and learning through movement. Therefore, our design methods will conceptualize a new school space that can offer a wide variety of activities and learning environments that bring the whole local community together.
